The "Pandora Research Facility" is a solo level design project designed to explore non-violent, story-driven gameplay centered on exploration, discovery, and ecological storytelling.
Inspired by science fiction and real-world environmental challenges, the project is a single-player exploration experience focused on ecological discovery. The player takes on the role of an ecologist who travels through the Stargate to Pandora, an alien planet with extraordinary ecosystems, to help a human research team searching for nature-based solutions to Earth’s climate crisis.
Through exploration, observation, and experimentation, the player studies plants, conducts research, solves environmental puzzles, and uncovers the hidden logic and connections that shape the world.
The project began with a simple but urgent goal: to raise awareness about pollution and the climate crisis by showing how science, curiosity, and respect for nature can inspire hope rather than despair. Over time, it evolved into a fully realized playable experience blending level design, quest systems, branching dialogue, and environmental storytelling, and now serves as a personal showcase of my approach to worldbuilding and game design.
This project was developed during a major career transition. After losing my job twice in one year, I chose to reinvest in my skills instead of stepping away from the industry. I built on my background in environment art and QA, strengthened my level design and narrative abilities, and created a complete exploration-driven project focused on ecological themes.
The goal was not only professional growth, but also to create a game that encourages reflection and care for the environment.
At its core, the project reflects my belief that games can both entertain and inspire change, offering players freedom, wonder, and meaningful choices in how they interact with the world.
